bodies,
broken hearts, broken lives....... |

Of the 34 million
people in the world currently living with HIV/AIDS,
one-third of these are young people between the ages of 10 and 24.
-
Worldwide, about 50% of all
new HIV infections occur among young people 15-24 years old.
-
More than 6,000
young people worldwide aged 15-24 become infected with HIV every day - that is,
about four every minute.

Youth of a
nation are the most responsive to change. The Ugandan HIV
prevalence rates dropped 70% between 1991 and 2001.The greatest percentage
decline in HIV infections and the greatest degree of behavioral change occurred
in those 15 to 19 years old. This was also the group with the fewest AIDS
deaths. Ninety-five percent of all Ugandans ages 15 to 49 now report
practicing monogamy or abstinence.
